ABU DHABI, April 8 (KUNA) -- The Federal National Council (FNC), the UAE's official parliamentary body, has insisted it will continue to strive internationally to reach a diplomatic solution to the issue of the UAE's islands that have been occupied by Iran.

Chairman of the FNC Abdulaziz Abdullah Al-Ghurair said on Tuesday that the Council appreciates the position made by Arab states in the Arab League summit that was held in the Damascus, Syria, in March this year.

The Arab states assured the UAE that the case of the Islands was to remain open and that all the leaders would work cooperatively to convince Iran to fully withdraw its occupation of the three UAE islands of Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa and to reach a diplomatic solution through extensive negotiations. The Arab League also assured the UAE that it would inform the UN Security Council and resort to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in case Iran doesn't comply with the request.
