Canadian PM to postpone visit to Israel: report

OTTAWA -(AFP)- June 07, 2008

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has decided to postpone his visit to Israel scheduled for mid-June due to a political crisis in the country, Canadian media reported late Friday.
Harper was to visit Israel as well as Jordan and the West Bank between June 16 and 20.

But Radio Canada reported the Canadian prime minister had now opted for postponing the trip because of political instability in Israel due to a corruption scandal surrounding Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

The Canadian government did not comment on the report Friday.
