Shadowy group claims tractor attack in Jerusalem
JERUSALEM- 2 July 2008
A shadowy group calling itself the Imad Mughniyah Brigades of the Free Galilee claimed responsibility Wednesday afternoon for the attack in Jerusalem, where a tractor driver went on the rampage, plowing into cars and ramming a bus.
At least four people were killed in the rampage and 40 injured. The driver of the tractor was shot dead by police. He was an East Jerusalem resident with a criminal record and it was not initially clear whether he was a member of any Palestinian militant group.
The claim of responsibility could not immediately be verified. The Imad Mughniyah Brigades have previously claimed responsibility for attacks which were carried out by other groups.
Mughniyah, a top leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, was assassinated in Damascus in February. (KhaleejTimes)
