Mahmud Abbas begins visit to Egypt

The Chairman of the Palestinian National Administration Mahmud Abbas is beginning his visit to Egypt amid growing tension in the Gaza Strip where Palestinian fighters and Israel are exchanging blows. According to the Palestinian Administration’s spokesman Nabil Amru, the Palestinian leader is due to meet President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo later in the day to take up a likely return to the intra-Palestinian talks and a settlement with Israel. The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev underscored the importance of a Palestinian-Israeli peace dialogue during his talks with Mahmud Abbas in Moscow on Monday. (Source)
