Sorry girls! No soccer for you in Iran!
We have to apologise to Iranian women and women worldwide for the exciting news we reported a few weeks ago about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's decision to allow women into soccer stadiums.
The decision was seen by women's rights campaigners in Iran as a "little victory".
Unfortunately for Iranian women that little victory has been snatched away yesterday by a new ruling by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has vetoed the decision.
Gholam-Hossein Elham, the government spokesman, said yesterday: "The president has decided to revise his decision based on the supreme leader's opinion."

I agree with you. There is nothing in the world that can move them away from the Middle Age!
You are right, that letter was for publicity. But it may backfire on Ahmadinejad.
If you really read every word of the letter, which I just finished doing, it is very scary.
I believe it is the final offer to the West, specifically the United States, to surrender to Islam, or else. Muslims always give a final demand to their enemy before they attack, or so I have read.
There is no way Ahmadinejad intended this letter to have anything to do with 'diplomacy' or his nuclear program.

They are SHIA! They represent only 10% of the worldwide Muslim population. The wahabis don't consider them Muslims. Al Qaeda doesn't consider them Muslims. In Pakistan, the Shia are harassed and attacked, even killed.
Shia Islam and Sunni Islam are different. Iran is the only majority Shia country in the world. Their "Ayatollah's" are Shia scholars.
So when the president of Iran says, submit to Islam, he's saying submit to Shia Islam.
