Israel's security service goes online, with new Arabic and English Web sites

JERUSALEM: Israel's security service has launched English and Arabic Web sites.

The Shin Bet's latest move is aimed at lifting its traditional shroud of secrecy and improving its cloak-and-dagger image.

The slick new sites include video footage of airstrikes, arrest raids, VIP security squads and live-fire training, complete with action-movie music pulsing in the background.
In the site, unveiled Monday, the Shin Bet also provides data it gathered on militant activity — a candor that would have been unheard of only a few years ago. (IHT)
