Trial begins for Norway synagogue attackers
The first trial under Norway's new anti-terrorism laws is under way.
In a trial that began Monday, three men are charged with shooting an Oslo synagogue and planning embassy attacks.
Arfan Bhatti, 30, was arrested and charged with firing 13 shots into the wall of the capital city's main synagogue in September 2006 and planning attacks on the U.S. and Israeli embassies. Bhatti is of Pakistani descent.
His alleged accomplices are a 30-year-old of Turkish descent who is alleged to have participated in the synagogue attack and a 28-year-old charged with assisting in the planned embassy attacks. All three are citizens of Norway.
