Tony Blair cancels Gaza visit

Former British Premier Tony Blair has called off his visit to the Gaza Strip after Israel claims he might come under attack there.

"Unfortunately we had to cancel the visit because of a specific security threat... we had to turn back on the road, " Blair's spokeswoman Ruti Winterstein said on Tuesday.

The remark came after Israel's Shin Bet security service said it had received “pinpoint information that Palestinians were planning to attack Blair in Gaza, so the relevant services alerted him to the fact.''

The spokeswoman said that the ex-British premier hoped to pay another visit at a later time.
