South Ossetia: Blast in Russian base kills six
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Six people were killed and another four wounded when a car filled with explosives blew up near a Russian peacekeepers' base in Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia on Friday, Itar-Tass news agency reported.
The agency quoted the chief spokeswoman of the separatist government (Irina Gagloieva) as saying the car was parked next to the base in the regional capital Tskhinvali. South Ossetian officials could not be immediately contacted and the Russian Defence Ministry said it was checking the information.
