Call to Boycott Israel at the Paris Book Fair
At the next Book Fair at the Salon du livre de Paris, Israel will be the Guest Honor in celebration of its 60th Anniversary. The Book Fair will be held March 14 to 19. (Salon du Livre)
The decision was made a few months ago.
All of a sudden today, Egyptian unionists from all sorts of professional bodies have issued a strong protest against having Israel as "guest of honor".
"The choice of Israel as Guest of Honor is not acceptable, because Israel violates Human Rights " said to AFP Mohamed Salmawy, President of the Egyptian Writers' Union.
A formal letter of protest will be handed on Sunday to the French Ambassador Philippe Coste.
"We cannot exclude a call to boycott" added a defiant Mohamed Salmawy.
