Iranian Vice-President in deep trouble

200 MPs protest remarks by VP

TEHRAN, Aug. 13 (MNA) – 200 representatives on Wednesday released a statement condemning the remarks by Vice President Esfandiar Rahim Mashaii.
Mashaii had earlier said, “Iran is friends with the Israeli people” in stark contrast to Iran’s stance on the Zionist regime.

The statement strongly denounced Mashaii’s remarks and asked President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to take necessary steps so that such ‘tactless remarks’ are not repeated again.

“We (the Iranians) are friends with all nations and most of the governments but recognize no territory as Israel let alone recognizing Israeli people,” the statement read.

The statement also said such remarks are in sharp contrast to the logical policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the positions of Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader.

“The people who Mashaii names ‘Israeli nation’ are those who occupied the homes of thousands of Palestinians and those who constitute the body of the Israeli regime and those who torture 11,000 of Palestinian men, women and children in dungeons,” the representatives emphasized.

Strangely enough, Mashaii has declined the demands to retract his remarks.
