Russia, USA urge Iran to suspend uranium enrichment

BOCHAROV RUCHEI (Sochi), April 6 (Itar-Tass)

Russia and the United States have once again urged Iran to abide by demands of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and UN Security Council resolutions.

"We remain adherent to political and diplomatic efforts in the search for a solution, which will guarantee the exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program," the Sochi declaration runs. “We once again affirm the need for the Iranian compliance with the demands of the IAEA Board of Governors and UN Security Council resolutions 1737, 1747 and 1803, which stipulate the complete and verifiable suspension of uranium enrichment research.”

Russia and the United States confirmed their adherence to further progress in line with the March 3, 2008, statement of the sextet foreign ministers.
The declaration welcomed “the Russian agreement to supply nuclear fuel to the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran and to take away spent nuclear fuel.“
“This step enables Iran to possess a civilian atomic energy potential without enriching uranium and disposing of spent nuclear fuel,” the declaration runs. (ITAR-TASS)
