Iran’s military capabilities at the service of Mideast security: minister
TEHRAN, , July 13 (MNA) – Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on Sunday that Iran’s defense capabilities are at the service of the Middle East’s peace and security.
“Iran’s defense equipment will only target the opportunistic aggressors and the enemies of the Islamic Republic,” Najjar told reporters on the sidelines of Sunday’s cabinet session.
Iran last week test-fired nine long- and middle-range surface to surface missiles in response to a recent maneuver staged by Israel simulating a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The missiles included an upgraded version of the Shahab-3 missile, which officials have said could reach targets 2,000km away.
Najjar described the exercise as successful, saying, the military parade showed that Iran is able to address its demands for defense equipment.
He dismissed as a psychological operation Western allegations that Iran has altered the image of the missile test to exaggerate its military capabilities.
