Iran slams women's rights abuse in France

Mon, 06 Oct 2008 13:52:35 GMT

A top Iranian diplomat has voiced disapproval over the violation of human rights, especially women rights, in France and some EU states. In a Monday meeting with head of the French foreign ministry's Department for Middle East Affairs Nathalie Loiseau, Iran's envoy to Paris Ali Ahani said that Tehran is deeply disturbed with the abuse of human rights in France. Ahani said social and political discrimination against religious minorities in France has raised the alarm for Tehran, adding that the French presidency of the European Union has led the bloc to unjustifiable reactions toward human rights issues in Iran. "In the first months of taking office, the French government has ignored the rights of Muslims and has paid no attention to racist activities," Ahani concluded. Press TV
